Hello, Mandarin! is New York City's only arts-based Mandarin immersion program offering a full curriculum from age 18 months through 12th grade. Founded in 2019 by Dr. Jiaoyue Lyu — a UPenn Ed.D. and Lincoln Center/Carnegie Hall soloist — our research-backed program uses music, movement, and the arts not as decoration, but as the primary engine of language acquisition. The result: children who genuinely speak, read, perform, and love Mandarin. 

Hello, Mandarin serves families from 30+ of New York City's most selective schools — from HoraceMann, Trinity, Brearley, Spence to PS 6 — and performs each semester at venues including Lincoln Center and broadcasts globally via SinoVision

In the last 5 years, Hello, Mandarin has been invited to perform at cultural galas and showcases at New York University, Bryant Park, the Museum of Chinese in America, Queens Museum, Apollo Theater, Cipriani 42nd St, and many more.

We believe that the best learning happens when we live the language through joyful, developmentally appropriate experiences. Our classes culminate in showcase performances across New York City.
